Barcelona is a city with an incredible amount of tourist attractions. It is full of art and culture that you can see everywhere in its monuments, streets and markets. To make the most of your visit to the city, where you can stay in Aspasios, it's best not to waste your precious time and have an idea of what to do in this beautiful city. One of the best things you can do here is go out like a local and maybe have a vermouth in Barcelona, just the way local residents do. Having a vermouth in the afternoon is a typical custom. In recent years, this traditional way of spending time with friends has gained new followers. In Barcelona there are many cool bars that offer this drink. So here is our top five to enjoy the vermouth in the city.
Morro Fi is considered one of the best places among vermouth fans in Barcelona. What started as a blog of gastronomic recommendations eventually became a beloved bar known for its premium appetizers and house-made vermouth. The space is small, with no indoor tables, but it has a sunny terrace where you can soak in the lively atmosphere of the Eixample neighbourhood. Their vermouth is a must-try, often accompanied by simple but delicious tapas like olives, anchovies or chips with mussels. You’ll find Morro Fi at C/ Consell de Cent, 171.
We are once again in the Eixample neighborhood. Senyor Vermut is less than four years old, and yet it already has many fans. It has a retro charm and a terrace with plenty of sunshine. The bar’s main attraction is its 40 different varieties of vermouth. Watch out, you might feel like trying more than one! Senyor Vermut’s customers are very varied; between hipsters and families, you’ll find all kinds of people who feel comfortable here. It is located at C/ Provença 85, just ten minutes from Garden Apartments.
Now we move on to the classics. Quimet Quimet is one of the oldest places in the city and is located in the Poble Sec neighborhood. This iconic bar not only serves some of the best vermouth and tapas in Barcelona, but it also offers its own beers and a wide selection of wines. Another great reason to visit this small bodega is its wide range of original tapas. If you’re unsure what to try, just ask the waiter and they will be happy to recommend something. You’ll find it at C/ Poeta Cabanyes 25, just ten minutes from Charming Flats.
Of course, there are also cool vermouth places further away from the more touristic parts of Barcelona. Take the neighbourhood of Sants, for example, located right next to the local fresh-food market, the heart of shopping life in the district. La Bodegueta de Ca’l Pep is a real classic, founded in 1929. Even today, it still preserves the essence of a traditional wine cellar. The vermouth they serve here is homemade and is usually paired with high-quality, traditional fish or pickled tapas that are very popular with regular customers. If you want to get a table, you'd better arrive early because there are only a few available. It is located at C/ Canalejas 12, easily accessible via metro line L1.
Our final recommendation takes us to the Sant Antoni neighbourhood. This traditional bar is perfect for a homemade vermouth and some tasty tapas. Its name pays tribute to the Catalan writer Pere Calders, and if you take a look inside, you'll find a few elements related to him. The bar’s main attraction is its quiet and colourful terrace, which blends rustic Catalan style with a touch of Andalusian charm. It is located at C/ Parlament 25, just three minutes from the Poble Sec metro stop on line L3. Oh, and one more thing: if you discover a cool place that you think deserves a visit during your stay in Barcelona, we’d love it if you shared it with us.
