Barcelona International Motor Show 2015: A Crazy Ride for Car Lovers

Formula 1 is coming to Barcelona, and along with it a fair fully devoted to motor vehicles: Barcelona International Motor Show (in Spanish: Salon Automóvil). This year, the 38th edition, which will be held from 9 to 17 May, will feature pretty much all the important brands in the automobile transport industry. These brands will give visitors the unique opportunity to get all the important updates on the newest motor vehicles that are out there.

3 reasons to visit

There are three main reasons why car fanatics should visit this important fair. Firstly, the Barcelona International Motor Show has been the host of many car launches in the past. Renault launched their Twizy F1 model and Volkswagen announced the e-up during the last edition in 2013 (the fair is being held every two years). This year, you can count to see some exciting announcements as well. So, if you’re following the developments in the automobile, this fair is a must-see.

If you are looking to buy a new car, the International Motor Show is the best place to do it. The fair offers an unprecedented choice in different models of 37 car brands. These brands will try to catch your attention and win your heart with some fantastic offers. Also, visitors can benefit from special financing conditions when buying a car at the show.

Finally, you should be excited if you just seek to take a seat in one of the world’s most modern and sophisticated cars showcased at the fair. The show offers a “box zone” in which visitors can test-drive a car of their choice free of charge. There is no obligation to buy, so you can just ride them for fun.

Fun activities for everyone

Along with the above mentioned “novelties” that will be exhibited in the fair, more hands-on visitors will have a broad choice of fun activities. Among others, we recommend you take a look at these while visiting:

  • Visitors will be able to participate in a course of safe driving, where they will be taught how to adequately react on risky situations when driving in the city or on the highway in order to minimize risk. Your driving position, skills and overall vehicle control will improve.
  • For even more adventurous visitors, the show offers a rollover simulator. This way, you can experience for yourself how it feels to be in a car that rolls over during an accident. Just make sure you have your seatbelts fastened!
  • The younger, future drivers can start preparing for their driving career with a realistic driver simulator, where children can experience how it feels to drive a car. A fun exercise that keeps your kids busy while visiting the show.
  • In the Urban Mobility Zone of the fair, there will be motorcycles, electric bicycles and Segways for everyone to try out.

A bit of history

The International Motor Show has been around in Barcelona for quite a while. The fair was organized for the first time back in 1919, and since 1955 it is being organized every two years. Today, 38 editions later, it welcomes more than a million visitors and all important brands in the industry. The International Motor Show is also one of the biggest fairs held at Barcelona’s famous Fira exhibition site.
