Freixenet is a winery located in the town of Sant Sadurní, the heart of the Penedès region, which is about 40 minutes from Barcelona. Freixenet is a family-run company whixh has become one of the world’s biggest-selling producers of sparkling wine and the leading brand in Spain.  Nowadays the firm owns wineries in some of the world’s most important wine-growing areas and its products are exported to more than 150 countries.

The tour of Caves Freixenet will allow you to discover the traditions and culture of the wonderful world of cava. Tour the Freixenet wine cellars and visit the heart of their underground cellars as you learn about the process of making fine Catalonian cava. Discover the secrets of a long tradition of family winemaking and enjoy a tasting of Freixenet cava.

The guided tour of the Freixenet vineyards will take around 90 minutes and allows you to whet your appetite with famed sparkling wine from Catalunya.We recommend you to begin the day by watching the video about the history of the famous wine maker. After that you will be ready to be taken on a tour of the historic wine cellars that date back to 1922.During this tour you will have the chance to see how Freixenet cava is still produced by the traditional method as well as how modern techniques have been added into today’s processes.

Later, you will take a ride on a small train through the modern cellars that date from the 1970s and 1990s, then you will be shown the Freixenet production areas. At the end of the tour you will have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of this glimmering, cool cava. You will also be able to visit the Freixenet store Dolores Ferrer, where you will be able to choose products from different regions of the world as well as a wide range of top-quality merchandise associated with the Freixenet brand.

How to get there:
By car: from the AP-7 and AP-2 motorways, exit 27 – Sant Sadurní d’Anoia (40km from Barcelona and 30km from Tarragona). | By train: from Barcelona-Sants and Barcelona Plaça Catalunya stations, line 4 of RENFE suburban rail (Rodalies RENFE) in the direction of Vilafranca del Penedès/Sant Vicenç de Calders, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia station (Journey time: 45 minutes)*.

* The entrance to Caves Freixenet is located 50 metres from the railway station.
