Experience Barcelona in 360 Degrees

During the month of August, tech and internet giant Google launched a new tool. Google launches new things all the time, though, so why does this matter? Because this tool, Views, lets you use the existing maps product in a new way – a way that allows you to immerse yourself a little more in a remote place. Say you are thinking of visiting Barcelona, but you want more visual information about the street with that famous monument, right next to the one your fantastic Aspasios apartment is on. Use the Views tool to get a 360 degree view of the landmark´s environs in stunning resolution (called “photo spheres”) taken by the Google team as well as panoramas taken by other users.

Before coming to visit, you can now use the Google Views tool to enjoy many iconic Barcelona views. Google has provided about 30 in total, but this will increase as users upload their own, which can even be done from mobile phones. How might the city look from the Tibidabo Amusement Park or the New Stadium of the Barça team? What about modernist architect Antoni Gaudí´s Casa Batlló? See the city from the vantage point of the Catalan National Arts Museum (MNAC), catching a glimpse of Plaza Espanya and the Barcelona Convention Center. It´s always nice to get a sneak peak, but we promise all these sights and more are even better in person. While it is a good way to prepare for your trip, these are views even many Barcelona residents have never witnessed with their own eyes – and this might be just the inspiration they need. With Barcelona being a world capital of mobile technology as host of the annual Mobile World Congress, we hope that sightseers will feel inspired to share their panoramas of the city. We can´t wait to see your point of view!
