The variety of topics the exhibition in CosmoCaixa deals with is very large. It ranges from the emergence of matter back in prehistorical era to current environmental ecosystems. Apart from that, the museum also examines scientific areas such as mechanics and electronic engineering. Visitors can also see live experiments in physics, geology, biology and mathematics. The biggest highlight is the “Underwater Jungle,” a 1000 square meter greenhouse with real crocodiles and 30 meters high trees behind the ceiling-high glass. This amazing place is home to more than 100 different plants and animals such as giant piranhas, huge snakes and poisonous frogs.

The CosmoCaixa in Barcelona occupies five floors. Starting at the bottom visitors can climb up the spiral ramp built around the so-called “Tree of Life” – a huge plant that was brought to Barcelona from Brazil. Along the way they will have the opportunity to learn more about several natural phenomena. In the area called “El Muro Geológico” visitors can learn lots of interesting things about the nature of rocks and stone structures. On top of that, the museum collection features various meteorites, fossils, insects and the remains of dinosaurs. Last but not least, the CosmoCaixa boasts an amazing planetarium.

One of the best things about CosmoCaixa is its family-friendliness. There are games for children aged between three and ten that help them learn more about nature and the universe. Thanks to its touch-and-feel approach, CosmoCaixa makes science incredibly exciting and easy to understand. The museum opens daily from 10 am to 8 pm. Apart from that, the entrance fee is only four euros, which is great for anyone who doesn’t want to spend too much money. In short, CosmoCaixa is a place that is really worth visiting.
