August in Barcelona: What is there to do?

Beaches, pools, museums, live music, and must sees for your visit to Barcelona.

As in all big cities, August is a month with less rush, and Barcelona is no different in this sense to the rest of the world. August is the month in which most of the local urbanites go out to enjoy their vacations, so we can find a different city to the one that exists the rest of the year. From the Port Vell to the most famous streets such as Paseo de Gracia or Gran Via and in the local parks, everything takes on a different tempo, more leisurely, a tempo suitable for enjoying tourism. So, for those who have decided to enjoy Barcelona this August, we want to give you some suggestions of what you can do.

To escape the heat, there is nothing like taking a refreshing dip in one of Barcelona’s swimming pools.

But let’s not forget that Barcelona is the Mediterranean city, and is completely open to the sea, so why not enjoy the beaches that the city has to offer? Barceloneta, Bogatell and Mar Bella. However, these are not the only beaches you can enjoy in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. To the south you will find the beaches of Castelldefels, Sitges or Garraf, and to the north those of Montgat, Badalona or Ocata.

On the other hand, if you like to enjoy the outdoors, but you don’t want to go to the beach or be in a pool, there are also options for you. For example, how about a picnic in Barcelona? Here we suggest some places where you can enjoy it:

  • The outlooks from the gardens of Montjuic
  • A cable car ride up to the Castle of Montjuic
  • The mountain of Collserola (near Tibidabo Park)
  • Ciutadella Park

Also, if you would like to take refuge from the heat during the day and enjoy the art of the city, do not miss the museums of Barcelona:

Would you like to enjoy outdoor shows? It is also possible! Discover the show of the Magic Fountains of Montjuïc, (which has recently returned after two years of hiatus due to the pandemic), or the film sessions on the beach and in the Castle of Montjuïc.

Finally, do not miss the most popular monuments in Barcelona:

  • Barcelona’s Cathedral
  • Camp Nou
  • The Sagrada Familia
  • Park Güell
  • Aquarium de Barcelona
  • La Pedrera (Casa Milà)
  • Tibidabo Theme Park
  • Horta’s Labyrinth Park

And if you want to be well communicated and close to everything you need in the city, we recommend our fully equipped central apartments in Barcelona. Book yours now!
