Barcelona seen from the sky

It is not necessary to ride a helicopter to see Barcelona from the sky, you just have to ride Montjüic aerial cable car, which can be reached by funicular (with a simple subway ticket). From the cable car boxes, refurbished in 2007, you will enjoy watching the city and the port from a unique perspective.
We recommend you to go all the way up to the castle, which was militar museum until June of 2009 but will be recycled into a Center for Peace Studies, and after visiting this historical monument, take the road leading to the Mirador del Migdia. It's a 10-minute ride in which you will enjoy great views of the Industrial Port of Barcelona. After the ride you can chill out at a small bar near the Mirador, with a big a calm terrace where you can have a snack, a light meal or even a barbecue, in the pine forest shadows with a pleasant sea breeze.
On your way back to the city, you can stop and enjoy the Mirador del Alcalde, a group of squares located on the west mountainside of the Montjüic, and they pose as a real balcony facing the center of the city and Port Vell. From there, if you are too tired, you can get the aerial cable car all the way down to the station from an intermediate station. Another option is to descend by the beautiful gardens of Verdaguer. An alternative, if you want to have a closer look of the old port, is to descend by foot until the Plaza de l'Armada, also known as "Miramar", and there take the historical red air shuttle until you get to World Trade Center in the old port, or until the Sant Sebastian beach at Barceloneta Quarter.
