The last 20 years, Barcelona has turned 4 km of its coastline into beach with fine white sand, with dykes to protect it from erosion. It is a big luxury so close to the centre, and many people enjoy it all year long. Its six beaches are fully equipped to offer a complete service to the visitor: they all have showers, security patrol, lifesaving, changing rooms, a playground, a gym, gangways and facilities for wheelchair users. You will also find works of art, beach bars by the seaside and other bars and restaurants located near the pleasant boardwalk, ideal for a walk, a bicycle ride or rollerblading. In the Olympic Harbour you can rent sailing boats in all sizes and types and surfboards. The yellow underground line and many buses provide excellent connections.
