Probably the easiest way, though not the cheapest, for a first time visit to the city of Barcelona is the Tourist Bus “Bus Turístic”. It offers three different routes covering the most relevant tourist spots. Once you get the ticket, you can hop on and hop off as often as you want.
With your ticket comes a complete guide in 6 different languages full of tourist information and discounts on places of interest.
The red and the blue buses start at 9h and they get through Plaza Catalunya for the last time at 19h in Winter and at 20h in Summer. The first green bus leaves the Port Olimpic stop at 9h30.
The adult fare for a day is 23 €, and 30 € for two days. The fare for children from 4 to 12 is 14 € and 18 € respectively.
