The Horta Labyrinth

In today’s post I would like to show you one of the most fascinating places in the district of Horta-Guinardó in Barcelona. These are the Horta gardens, designed in 1792 by the Italian engineer Domenico Bagutti at the request of the villa owner Joan Desvalls, the Marquis de Llupià i d’Alfarràs.

The Labyrinth Park in Horta is the oldest existing garden in Barcelona. It has a stylish design and is beautifully tended. It has a romantic feel that makes it feel like a paradise ideal to lose yourself in. The garden has flowerbeds, big trees, squares and even a waterfall. It is full of little corners that will enchant the visitor. A walk through the gardens will fill you with a sense of history and peace.

As you work your way through this spectacular maze, you will find the famous “Sovereign Tower”, a former farmhouse of the fourteenth century, restored and redecorated in arabesque style during the nineteenth century.
