Madrid is a fantastic city for shopping. You can find everything you could ever want in this city filled with commonly found brands, high-end local boutiques and designer stores.
Between Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía you will find a pedestrian area full of high-end clothes and shoe shops. You will find plenty of recognizable brands and labels along here. This also happens to be the home of the original El Corte Inglés (a hugely popular Spanish department store).
If you are keen to shop in more local shops where you will find hand-crafted items, then Austrias is the area to head for. This is situated behind Plaza Mayor. You will find glass painting, woodworking and ironmongery among other local crafts here. Regardless of whether you choose to buy anything, it’s a lovely part of the city to stroll around – don’t forget your camera.
For designer clothing stores and boutiques head straight to the Salamanca district. Chanel, Gucci, D&G, Prada… it’s all found here. If you enjoy browsing for vintage clothes and unique pieces then Calle Fuencarral is the best place to head for.
The Spanish capital is no doubt one of the best cities in Europe for shopping so if you are soon to be visiting, enjoy!
