Dreta de l’Eixample is a neighborhood in the Eixample district of Barcelona.Derecha is the Spanish word for right so Eixample Dreta as it is known in Catalan simply means the right hand side of the Eixample area.Being based in Eixample Dreta has a lot of advantages. The main plus has to be the location. If you are staying there you will be within a walking distance of the central Placa Catalunya, the centre of the city, and the upscale streets Rambla de Catalunya and the city’s most prestigious shopping street, Paseig de Gràcia. You can also easily get to Fort Penc, centered on Estació del Nord,Placa de Tetuan,Arc de Triumph,Passeig de Sant Joan or the Sagrada Familia.

Another advantage in this area is that it is fairly quiet at night, thanks to the orderly flow of one-way traffic. Moreover, there are not so many placas (squares) where people typically gather in the evening. On the other hand,if you prefer to be at the tick of things when it comes to night-life,this may not be the neighborhood for you.

L’Eixample Dreta has a reputation for being one of Barcelona’s most prestigious neighborhoods. It is popular with middle-to-upper class Catalan people, who enjoy a good standard of living amongst the upmarket bars and restaurants, and large, modern flats. L’Eixample Dreta (the part of the Eixample to the right side of Passeig de Gràcia) boasts the most concentrated example of Modernista architecture in Barcelona. As you walk around the neighborhood look around the doorways and patios and glance up at street lamps and balconies. You will see lots of little Modernista touches that all go towards creating the atmosphere of the place.

One more advantage is that L’Eixample Dreta is well-served by public transport. There are a lot of buses running to and from the centre and the beach, as well as several metro lines. If you want to go to tha beach of Barceloneta you should get the yellow metro line ,and the purple one to the Sagrada Família. The driving in the neighborhood quite straightforward, and there are a few underground parking sites (for a fee) as well. Taking a taxi never takes long, either.

For those of you arriving into Girona airport, L’Eixample Dreta is especially handy – you can catch the bus from the airport straight into the Estació del Nord bus terminal, just to the right of the Arc de Triumph.

The structured streets of L’Eixample Dreta are famous for their high number of art galleries, together with a cluster of upmarket bars and restaurants.

Just take the time to walk around is the best advice we can offer you in this district!
