Autumn in Madrid

Madrid is a fabulous city to visit any time of the year, but when the weather changes and the leaves start to fall the city becomes completely enchanting. There are some must do activities in Madrid during the autumn months.

Parque Retiro
This is one of the largest parks in the city and a gentle stroll through it during the autumn months should not be missed off the itinerary. The crispness of the air and the beautiful autumnal colours will no doubt make your journey through the park very memorable.

Lose yourself in Madrid’s largest flea market for an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. It is located along Plaza de Cascorro and Ribera de Curtidores and is very popular with tourists and locals alike. Haggle over some goodies, sample some local delicacies and enjoy soaking up the very Spanish atmosphere.

Aranjuez Day Trip
Enjoy a day trip to the beautiful town of Aranjuez for a very special day out. If you are feeling energetic you might enjoy a tour of the palace. If not, then enjoy a stroll along the river followed by a delicious lunch at one of the many restaurants located there.

The triathlon promises to be quite a spectacle and with over 6000 participants it will no doubt create a party atmosphere throughout the Spanish city. Anyone staying in the city on or around the 7th October will find it hard to ignore the event. It is always an occasion that draws the crowds and it is not difficult to understand why. With live music playing along the roads, media crews roaming in helicopters and thousands of of supporters and well wishers take to the streets to show their support to the athletes, the atmosphere at the Barcelona triathlon is always electric.

The Barcelona triathlon is Europe’s biggest triathlon and as such attracts athletes from around the world. This year is no exception and 27 countries are being represented at the event. The whole city will be transformed into a triathlon festival for the day and approximately 36,000 visitors are expected to turn out to show their support. If you would like to witness the extravaganza then head to Barcelona for October 7th. You will no doubt have a memorable time!
