There is a fantastic tradition that takes place in Madrid every year on New Year’s Eve. The San Silvestre Vallecana race first took place in 1964 and is still going strong in 2011. This 10km race takes place through Madrid’s Vallecas district and is open to runners of all ages and abilities. The dash is held on New Years Eve and thousands take part in it year after year. From serious athletes to those wanting a bit of a challenge and plenty of fun, anyone and everyone are welcome to enter. It’s a great event for spectators too as it is filled with fun, energy and plenty of excitement too.
