Being the cultural hub that it is, the city of Barcelona sees a tremendous number of art, musical and other cultural events during the autumn months. Barcelona during October and November is a good time to visit. The summer crowds have gone and the city returns to a more relaxing pace. There is plenty to keep visitors to the city occupied during the colder months however.
Throughout November and December the BAC! Barcelona International Festival of Contemporary Art takes place across multiple venues in the city. The festival comprises works from a number of celebrated artists from around the world and consists of all the different forms of media including murals, installations, sculptures….you name it! Every year a theme is chosen and this year’s theme is The Art of War (Arte de Guerilla.) The festival begins on 20th October and continues until 20th December. It is not an event to be missed for visitors to the city and locals too.
Another very popular annual event that takes place in Barcelona during autumn is The Barcelona International Jazz Festival. Venues that will be hosting certain events during the festival include the Palau de la Musica Catalana and L’Auditori. Included in the line up are big band, bebop, gospel and Latin-jazz performances. This year featured artists include The Neil Cowley Trio, The Pat Metheny Trio and Dave Holland & Pepe Habichuela. It begins in October and runs right through to December.
Both music and art loves flock to Barcelona during Autumn and with such exciting events such as these on offer, it is not difficult to understand why.
